Hi guys!

I am so excited to share photos from Melissa & Mark’s Colourful, DIY Summer Wedding!

Melissa and Mark are seriously one of the cutest couples I have ever met! Melissa is very outgoing and Mark is very quiet and shy so they are a perfect example of opposites that attract! When Melissa and Mark first contacted me I learned that Melissa’s family lived just outside of Acton and their wedding day ceremony was taking place at their family farm with the reception taking place at Blue Springs Golf Course. Of course, I loved the sounds of their special day because for most of my later childhood and teenage years I grew up in Acton and it’s always great to shoot a wedding that is close to home in familiar territory. Melissa and Mark’s engagement shoot took place at their family farm so I knew it would be the perfect spot for their ceremony. If you haven’t seen their engagement photos, click here!

Melissa and Mark’s day began at the family farm. I photographed the both of them getting ready in their separate parts of the house. My favourite moment of the getting ready shots had to be when Melissa and her Dad had their Father Daughter first look. It brought me to tears it was so sweet!

The ceremony was out on the lawn in front of the beautiful pond. Music filled the air with a string quartet playing the Beauty and the Beast theme song which is Melissa’s favourite (A girl after my own heart – it was my favourite movie growing up!) Watching how emotional Melissa and her parents were walking her down the aisle was so precious. Once they said I do the photo time began!

Photo time began with taking photos around the property. I absolutely was in love with the lighting we were blessed with that day and Melissa and Mark were on cloud 9 – it’s so obvious to see in their photos!

Once we wrapped up photos at the farm we headed to Blue Springs Golf Course in Acton where the reception was taking place. I snuck into the reception hall first to check out the space. Melissa and Mark DIYed so many elements of their wedding day to give it that personal touch! Melissa’s sister hand wrote each name card on the table with her excellent calligraphy skills, Melissa’s Mom made her adorable wedding cake and Melissa DIYed many elements including the seating chart and centerpieces.

Before the reception began Melissa, Mark and I snuck outside to take some Bride and Groom portraits in the perfect, glowy before sunset light that I love! The photo of Mark dipping Melissa reminded me of a scene from Beauty and the Beast- it was too perfect!

Melissa and Mark’s wedding reception was so heartfelt. Every speech was so special bringing laughter out of the entire crowd and bringing tears to the couple’s eyes. Next came the first dances which were so cute. Mark and Melissa are so in love and it’s so evident when you watch them together. Melissa and her Dad had a first dance that made me cry. These two have such a close bond with their families and it was  such a beautiful thing for me to witness. The nigh was filled with crazy, energetic dancing to classics like the YMCA and the Macarena! Everyone was up and dancing and having a great time!

Melissa and Mark, Thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your wedding day. Your love is such a beautiful thing that I am so glad that I got to witness and I know that what the two of you have is true love and that it will last forever! I hope we cross paths again in the future! I wish you all the best!
